FAMILY BOOK CLUB FOR GRADES 5-8

The YWCA is sponsoring a book club for interested students in grades 5-8 and their families to read Newbery Award-winning The Crossover by Kwame Alexander.  The novel, written in free verse, tells the story of twins Josh and Jordan, their skills on the basketball court, and their challenges at home.

Each interested family will receive a copy of The Crossover at a launch party at the Conners Emerson School Library on Wednesday, March 9 from 3:15 - 4:00 PM.  Author Carrie Jones will lead the kick-off event, where refreshments will be served. All interested family members are invited to attend.  Students who would like to take part, but are unable to have an adult attend, should still come.  They will need to be picked up promptly at 4 PM.

The final event will be a Q&A video-conferencing session to be held at the YWCA with the author, Kwame Alexander, on Wednesday, March 30 from 3:15 - 4:15 PM.  Students can be picked up after school by a family member to attend, or walk down to the YWCA with a group and meet their adult there. (We will likely arrive a bit after 3:15).  Any students who do not have an adult that can attend can still take part.  They will need to be picked up promptly at 4:15 PM. Refreshments will be served.

You can sign up online, http://goo.gl/forms/zPPn3uWojD,  call the school library, or you can send this form back to the library so we know the number of books to purchase.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Sincerely,

Ms. Ryan and Anna Carr, YWCA
