About 60,000 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students from across the world participate in the Elementary Level of Math Olympiads each year. The problems are all word problems that require students to reason mathematically. Each month, from November to March, students take a timed contest with five problems.
We also had four silver star winners (top 10%): sixth graders Oliver Johnston who placed second and Carolyn Graber and Sydney Eletheriou, who tied for 3rd place. Also tying for 3rd place was fourth grader, Nate Ingebritson.
A huge congratulations to Max Garrity-Janger, this year's school Math Olympiad winner. In addition to winning the school trophy, he placed in the top 2% globally and earned a gold star pin. He correctly answered 23 of the 25 problem challenges. Way to go, Max!
Our Math Olympiad Stars are shown with the sixth grade math teacher, Mrs. Nicholson.
