Ms. Toole's 7th grade Language Arts classes recently wrote speeches as part of their Informative Writing unit. They did research on this year's Modern Woodmen of America School Speech Contest topic, "A time when volunteers made a difference," and then presented their ideas in 3 to 5 minutes. The top 12 scorers at the classroom level went on to an evening competition in the Emerson library on Tuesday for an audience of family, staff, and fellow students.
Pictured (from left) are Olivia M., receiving third place for her speech on Habitat for Humanity; Alden B., receiving second place for his speech on the Civil Rights Movement; and Mary P., receiving first place for her speech on MDI Search and Rescue. Alden and Mary will represent CES on Tuesday, May 1st at 6 pm at the district-wide competition at MDES.
Congratulations to the 7th grade on your outstanding work!
