Share the Harvest ... Halloween at Beech Hill Farm

posted Oct 27, 2011, 10:55 AM by Rick Barter
On Saturday, October 29th please join us at Beech Hill Farm for a day full of fun games and hearty fall food! The fun starts at 11a.m. with kids’ games, face painting, and bike decorating. At noon there will be a costume bike parade along Beech Hill Road with all the best Halloween costumes on the island. There will also be delicious home-cooked food and hot apple cider, a bonfire to keep warm, and an apple pie contest.

All donations will go towards Share the Harvest, the farm-based food access program that aims to make fresh, local, healthy produce accessible to all members of the Mount Desert Island community. This past season, Share the Harvest distributed 40 gift-certificates through the Bar Harbor and Westside Food Pantries for families to spend at the farm-stand. The program is funded primarily through donations from the MDI community and has been met with great enthusiasm; the demand consistently exceeds capacity. At the event there will be opportunities to both apply and/or donate to the program.
