Congratulations to 8th grader, Alden. He is the recipient of a SILVER KEY from the Scholastic Art and Writing Contest for a humorous piece he submitted to the contest: Condiment Quest.  Alden wrote the piece in the fall as a response to a prompt in Mr. Chappe's eighth grade ELA class. (Read Condiment Quest here).

The Scholastic Art and Writing Contest accepts writing and art submissions from students enrolled in grades seven through twelve. Submissions are juried regionally by luminaries in the visual and literary arts, some of whom are past award recipients. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Maine winners will be honored at a ceremony on Friday, March 15 at the University of Southern Maine.
